Cynthia Marie Gioia

April 2, 1959 - April 28, 2022

Cynthia Marie Gioia, born April 2nd 1959 in El Centro, CA, sadly succumbed to her hard-fought battle with cancer in the late hours of April 28th, 2022. She was the beloved wife to Jay Gioia, proud mama to Kyle Sichta, Mother-in-Law to Amy Sichta, Sister to her 6 siblings, and cherished friend to everyone that knew her. Born to John Pavao (passed) and Marylou Mettler, she was the 4th of 7 children: Renee, Eleanore, Jim, Johnny, Aaron and Paul. As a child, Cyndie was always the one to go next door to Grandma Hubbard’s house for a garlic sandwich and to spend time with her. She constantly was concerned for everyone’s wellbeing and made sure they were taken care of. Cyndie enjoyed traveling in the summertime with Grandma & Grandpa Hubbard to Texas and the White Mountains of Arizona. Cyndie’s first marriage brought her son Kyle into the world and they shared an incredible bond. It was no secret that he was her source of pride and joy. In 1994 Cyndie married the love of her life: Jay Gioia and they were an inseparable pair for the remainder of her days. They ran a successful roofing business from their home, shared in the many triumphs and losses of the LA Dodgers, struck it big or lost it all at the slots, spent their evenings on the patio under the stars; no matter what it was, they did it together. She would wake up every morning happy and ready to take on the day’s challenges. Her infectious smile and giddy sense of humor lit up any room she entered. Whether it was a destination trip with the family or a quick getaway to the casino, Cyndie had a lust for living life, enjoying the moment and sharing that excitement with those around her. Over the years, she and her family traveled the world and created a lifetime of memories at each destination they visited. When it came time to travel, she was the go-to for planning, scheduling and making sure nothing was left out of the itinerary. Some of Cyndie’s adventures even lead her to finding and rescuing many of the dogs she cared for and made part of the family. Sheba, Roma, Rocky, Bella, Daisy and Ranger can safely be called the luckiest dogs in the world to have been found by Cyndie. She also became “grandmother” to her daughter-in-law’s “grand-doggers”, Billy and Wyatt whom she loved as if they were her own. Of all the thousands of words you could use to describe the wonderful person Cyndie was, the main one that seems to be collectively shared by all who knew her is: ‘Selfless’. Cyndie cared for and took care of everyone, often without regard to her own struggles. Be it a card, a phone call, a care package or full-blown celebration, Cyndie made sure everyone felt included, remembered, special and didn’t go without. Services for our beloved Cyndie will be held on: Thursday, May 5th 2022. There will be a 11:00am Catholic Mass held at Saint Nicholas Church: 24252 El Toro Rd, Laguna Woods, CA 92637 | following the Mass, Cynthia will be laid to rest near her Grandmother and Grandfather: Loula and James Hubbard at 12:30pm at Ascension Cemetery: 24754 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630. After the burial, a gathering for the remembrance and celebration of her life will be held at: Villa Roma 25254 La Paz Road Laguna Hills, CA 92653
