Guadalupe Del Rio Valencia, born February 16, 1938 in Quitupan Jalisco, she passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2021 in Anaheim, California. She loved to call herself “Mayra”, but she was known as “Mami” or “Mama” to her children and “Grandma” to her grandchildren. Born to Eutimia Del Rio Barajas and Leocadio Barajas, she has 8 siblings. Guadalupe moved to California in 1974 to be with her husband Benjamin Valencia. They were married in Mexico on February 14, 1956, they had 10 children; Juan Manuel Valencia (passed at the age of 5 in Mexico), Arnoldo Valencia, (passed at the age of 8 months, in Mexico), (2 babies died at birth, in CA), Rigoberto, Guillermina, Leticia, Arnoldo, Araceli Rosalia and Grace. She worked as a dedicated homemaker and had a small day care at her home in Los Angeles and worked at a Catholic Day Care school on the weekends. Taking care of her family was her pride and joy, she kept a beautiful and tidy home and made home cooked meals daily for her family. She loved children and enjoyed having her day care center, she was great at taking care of them. She moved to Fontana, Ca in 1999, and she lived there until 2008, she then moved to Laguna Hills, CA. She lived in Orange County for the remainder of her life. She is survived by her husband Benjamin, son Rigoberto and daughter in law Vilma and grandchildren Joann, Eric, and Abby, and Joann’s baby, her great grand baby Lileth. Son Arnold, her daughter Guillermina, her daughter Leticia, and her son in law Tom and grandchildren Christal and Christopher. Her daughter Araceli Rosalia and son in law George and grandchildren Raymen, Eddie, Julian and Desiree. Her daughter Grace, Son in law Joaquin and grandchildren Giselle, Dean and Karen. Her sister Maria, Juanita, brother Marcelino and their families. Her brothers Locadio, Jose, Jesus, Antonio and Leopoldo have passed away. Guadalupe enjoyed travelling. She often went back to Mexico to visit her family and to oversee a property. Her greatest pleasure came on the weekends when she cooked delicious meals for her visiting children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, watching soap operas, going with her friends to church and lunch buffets, and picnics at the park with her family. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother, and her family meant the world to her. Mass services will be held Friday February 5, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Santiago De Compostela Catholic Church, 21682 Lake Forest Dr., Lake Forest, CA 92630 Followed by where she will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, 4201 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90023. Pallbearers will be sons Rigoberto and Arnold, grandsons Christopher, Eric, Raymen, Eddie, and Julian. Honorary pallbearers are sons in law Thomas, Joaquin, and George. She was simply beautiful, elegant, strong and caring.
