June 2, 1943 - August 31, 2021
Virginia H. White, born June 02,1943 in Collingswood, NJ, to Mr. and Mrs. Canio Ambrico. She passed away on Aug 31st at Saddleback Hospital, from Covid-19. Known to her family as Mom and to her many friends as “Ginny”, she was affectionally called Hon by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her spouse Bill, and her three children Christine, Michael and Carl, her son-in-law Kirk, her son-in-law Steven, her sister Sue, her brother Bob, her sister-in-law Rita, 17 nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Bill and Ginny met and fell in love at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia where they both worked as medical Corpsman; Ginny was a Navy “Wave”. Married in 1964 they raised three wonderful children and built a career in the US Navy. For 26 years, Ginny and the kids accompanied Bill from duty station to duty station all over the world. While stationed in the Philippines, Ginny and Bill worked together to treat casualties from the USS Forestall, after it exploded in the South China Sea during the Vietnam war. During her career in the Navy, Ginny worked at various military hospitals and duty stations. Once she retired from the Navy, she spent 30 years specializing in Geriatric Nursing and was the back-office nurse for Dr. Greg Brown in San Clemente, Ca. Ginny took great pleasure serving in several parish churches and sang in the choir at St. Nicholas for 25 years. She was also actively involved in the Pro-Life movement at her home church, St. Kilian in Mission Viejo. She was passionate about saving babies and helping women who were contemplating abortion. She embraced travel and crisscrossed the nation many times with her family when on-route to or from a new duty station. She loved Europe and always wanted to return on pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. She was very active in exercise classes and Tap-dancing with her lady friends. But most of all, Ginny loved spending time with family and friends, with frequent dinners as a family and outings with dear friends. Holidays were her favorite time and she always went all out with the festivities. She was generous with both her time and money, and supported many Catholic charities. Services will be held Wednesday 15 Sept 2021 at 10:30 Am at St. Kilian’s Catholic church in Mission Viejo, Ca. A small reception on the patio will be hosted by the Family after the service. After the reception, Ginny will be laid to rest with Military Honors in a private family ceremony at Ascension cemetery in Lake Forest, California.
