Obituary

Adella M. Konopelski Baker, of Laguna Woods, CA passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016.

She was born August 5, 1921 in the Township of Whitehall PA, to the late Anton and Caroline Konopelski. She married Silveus (Si) M. Baker on May 1, 1949, who died just a few months earlier, on January 12, 2016. They would have been married for 67 years May 1st.

Adella was a graduate of the Montacello School of Beauty, and came to California with her sister in her early 20's to work in Hollywood as a beautician. After she married her husband, Adella left her career to be a housewife, and worked with her husband buying real estate, and fixing up and selling property. Adella also helped Si work at their investment properties, in both day to day operations and in maintaining the property. Adella lived in Tustin from the late 1960's until 1987 where they raised their two daughters. Adella moved with her husband to the Laguna Woods Retirement Community in Laguna Woods in 1987 with Si.

Adella loved to plant flowers and tend to her garden, and had an edgy vogue-esq affinity fashion style all the way to 94 years. She was quick witted and would never hesitate to tell someone what she thought, good or bad. She was an avid student of the English language and the origin of words, and would never hesitate to stop and pick up a dictionary to research a word and its meaning. Adella was determined in her life, no matter what she did, and was a fighter by nature, but no one knew how much of a fighter she really was until her last few months on this earth. Adella was known for almost empathically getting to the core root of anything, her generosity to those in need, and for caring so diligently about her husband, children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by two children, Silvia Ann San Nicolas, of Orange, CA, and Sonia Valerie Johnson, of Orange, CA. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brenden Johnson, 21, student at University of Montana, and Maximilian Raymon Shamley, 17, who is a junior at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, CA. Adella was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Joint services for Adella and her late husband Silveus will be held on June 9th at 11:30am at McCormick and Son's Mortuary, located 25000 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Services will be immediately followed a joint burial at Pacific View Memorial Park at 3500 Pacific View Drive, in Corona Del Mar, CA.
