Akhtar Fakoorbayat, born June 17, 1925 in Shiraz, Iran passed peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at age 94 in San Juan Capistrano at her daughter Sohaila's home.

Born to Sherafat and Mohammad Fakoorbayat, she has one living sibling, Manoucher, who resides in Laguna Woods, CA with his wife Nahid. Akhtar was married to Abraham Faili who passed away in 1997 and together had five children Vida, Villa, Parviz, Sohaila, and Fariborz.

Akhtar was lovingly known as Mahboo to many. Why Mahboo? As her grandson Preston began to speak, he called her Mahboo, short for Maman Bozorg, which means grandmother in Farsi. She quickly became known as Mahboo to so many others.

Mahboo was known for her generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, impeccable style, and especially her love for her family. She loved all people, her eyes would brighten with smiles every time she had visitors. You would never leave her house hungry, as she was a phenomenal cook, and would constantly be feeding everyone with the generosity of a grandmother. She loved taking long walks and remained active throughout her years. She had a passion for knitting, gifting her creations for others to enjoy and now remember her by.

Akhtar is survived by all five of her children. Her daughter Vida, and both sons, Parviz and Fariborz, reside in Laguna Woods, Ca. Her daughter Sohaila, Son-in-law Jesse, grandchildren Preston and Armani reside in Orange and San Diego County. Her daughter Villa, Son-in-law Morteza, grandchildren Kimia and Kiana, and great-grand children, Cyrus, Parisa, Kayvan, Kamyar, and Sahar reside in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Burial will be held at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630 on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon reception at the Darya South Coast Plaza Restaurant located at 3800 Plaza Drive Santa Ana, CA 92704 at 1:00 pm.
