Obituary

Alan James Moore, born May 5, 1941, passed peacefully on Monday, January29, 2018 at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, California. Alan was lovingly known as 007 or Mr. Bond to his close friends. Born to James Henry and Dorothy May in Britain, Alan was an only child.Raised in England, Alan lived for 38 years in London before moving to California in 1979.Residing in Laguna Niguel, Auburn and ultimately in San Juan Capistrano, Alan was an avid bird lover and resided with his cockatiel, "Charlie".

The nicknames "007" and "Mr. Bond" were well earned after a lifetime of daredevil occupations, impressive hobbies and a need for speed.Alan's first love of speed was his love of cars that launched him into a career as a succesful car dealership salesman and manager as well as race car driver. His racing days were impressive and daring. As a rally racer he won numerous races with impressive statistics. If you have ever been to his house, you would know all of his trophies were proudly on display as he took pride in his quick race times and his success. There wasn't a day that you couldn't find him pouring over the formula one races and his favorite driver, Lewis Hamilton.

Alan's days in England were filled with hobbies and interests that made him his daring, charming self. When he wasn't on the race track you could also find him at The WireMill lake in Southeast England on his water skis impressing many a fellow, especially the ladies. In his younger years Alan was a part of the well known "Rat Pack" of the lake and was an impressive water ski technician as well as a charmer.

As if being a race car driver, water skier, and boat enthusiast wasn't enough, Alan added flying to his repetoire. His love of speed couldn't keep him away from flight as Alan trained and earned his pilots license at Biggin Hill in London. He soon moved to South Africa where he flew people to and from reserves. He lived there for a few years after which he returned to England.

It was his success in car sales that ultimately brought him to California.Looking to enjoy the warm California sunny weather, Alan transferred to Orange County in 1979 and began his permanent residency in the US.After a short time of living in Northern California, he decided to make Orange County his ultimate home.Living in Laguna Niguel and finally San Juan Capistrano, Alan was proud of his home and waited years to secure it and make it his own.

Perhaps Alan's most well known hobby in the last years of his life was that of his ballroom dancing. In England he was a fan of Ceroc, a blues style social dance, and was thrilled to find a dance community in Orange County that he could use his social dance skills. He was incredibly proud of his accomplishments as a dancer, rising from a social dancer to a highly qualified competitive ballroom competitor. There wasn't a week that would go by that he wasn't showing off yet another accomplishment of his dancing, from top awards in local team matches to 1st places finishes in major competitions. At every competition fellow dancers would approach him in awe of his outstanding energy and contagious spirit. It could be said that Alan's passion for dancing drove his motivation to survive his cancer diagnosis that riddled him the last years of his life.

Though he struggled with cancer and the many ailments that followed it, Alan had the charm and warm heart that drew so many to him.Even on his bad days he still showed up with a smile and cheerful word. His magnetic personality and wonderful energy inspired and awed all those around him.
