Albert Emil Sonnenfeld,89, beloved son, brother, uncle, soulmate, father,grandfather and great grandfather died suddenly
Saturday, August 24. Albert was born in Hosmer, South Dakota to Jacob and Martha Sonnenfeld. He is survived by three brothers Alan, Curtis and James and outlived his brother Art, and sisters Alice and Miriam. He was a Sergeant in the Army, he also worked in various capacities in his early years as a real estate developer and owned a restaurant/bar in Minnesota. He moved to California in 1960s and eventually became an insurance agent for Allstate where he worked for 21 years and retired from.
He married Eileen Knoll and they had a son, Roger in 1954. He was a step-father to Eileen's sons Darwin, Merlin and Lloyd. He became a widow when Eileen passed away in 1973. Albert spent much of his retired years loving his three grandchildren Nicole, Miles and Samantha and most recently his great-granddaughter Kenley.
He met his soulmate, Loretta Viau, 12 years ago and they enjoyed a special friendship and deep love for one another. They Spent most Friday nights at the Elks club for dinner and dancing and also you could find them Thursday nights at bingo.
He was a faithful servant and was a active member of Lutheran church of the cross in Laguna Woods where he attended Bible study and was a member of the choir for many years.
Al, as most people called him was one of the most gentlest and kindest souls you could know. He always had a positive outlook on life. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
