Alberta Lumpkin was born on December 18, 1923 to the union of Henry and Bessie White in Decatur, Alabama. Alberta was the sixth, of nine children born to this union. Alberta went home to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th 2021, only weeks before her 98th birthday, at Allora Senior Family Living in Mission Viejo, California.
She lived most of her life in Los Angeles, California. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was a member of St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California.
Alberta received her Associate Degree from Los Angeles City College, and did some undergraduate studies at CAL State LA. She enjoyed her years working at Clifton's and the LA City Hall Cafeteria. She was active in serving with the Association of Black Social Workers of Greater Los Angeles, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Lumpkin; her brother, Thomas White, and sisters: Elizabeth Bridgeforth, Lois Harper, Minnie Hughes, Bernice Raybon, Helen Breeding, and Lucille Grant. She is survived by her sister Jurlean Johnson, the final remaining child of Bessie and Henry White
