Obituary

Alexander P. Stavropoulos, 85, passed away peacefully October 10th, 2016 at the Loma Linda University Hospital, California. He was born March 2nd, 1931, Tripolis (Arcadias), Greece to Peter and Fannie Stavropoulos. His family moved to Decatur, Illinois July of 1947.

He attended University of Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He then joined the US Army from 1960-1962, and was stationed in Germany. After his military service, before leaving Illinois, he started his entrepreneurship building and working a laundromat in Decatur. Soon thereafter, while managing a department store, he met our mother Linda where they started their adventure together in a red Jaguar driving to California. He was a successful businessman who owned and operated The Greeks Mattress Warehouse including a factory and four stores from 1973-October 10th, 2016 (43 years).

He loved his wife and family, his work, golf, tennis, and watching politics and the stocks. His family loved and respected him for his hard work, sense of fairness, and his unique and lovable idiosyncrasies. He is loved and will be missed greatly.

Alex is survived by his loving daughters Nicole, Melissa, and Alexis; son-in-laws Todd Lavell and Rick Meredith; grandchildren Zack and Hayden Lavell and Brooke and Jordan Meredith.
