Obituary

Alexis Mationg Bartolome, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. She was 77 years old.

Born on September 23, 1948, in Lezo, Aklan, Philippines, Alexis was the daughter of Castrense and Tomasa Mationg and one of ten siblings. Her early life in the Philippines shaped her into the strong, intelligent, and determined woman her family knew so well. Though small in stature, she carried a commanding presence, one that protected her loved ones and ensured she was never taken advantage of. She embodied the heart of a true Filipina mother: resilient, loyal, and unwaveringly devoted to her family.

After immigrating to the United States, Alexis and Delfin Monroy Bartolome met and built a life together. They married on June 15, 1974, and raised three sons: Dale Voltaire, Derek Vaughn, and Don Vincent. Before joining the IRS as a tax auditor, Alexis worked various accounting jobs, steadily building a career through hard work and determination. She took pride in everything she accomplished, always setting a high standard for herself.

Alexis loved the finer things in life: designer fashion, precious jewelry, and items collected from around the world. She enjoyed dressing up, attending parties with good food, and wearing the pieces she worked hard for. She also loved family gatherings, where she could often be found staying up all night playing mahjong with her family and friends. At home, she never missed her favorite dramas. One Life to Live, General Hospital, and Dynasty were her favorites.

Her siblings often said she was the smartest among them, and their father adored her and was immensely proud of her. She was known for her strength, her stubbornness, and especially her infamous side-eye. Family was everything to her, and she loved Christmas dearly. She and Delfin created a Christmas Eve tradition that the family remembers with great warmth.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren: Peyton Alexander, Dylan, Jordan Skylar, and Kylie Sophia, who brought her endless pride and happiness. She protected her family fiercely, loved them deeply, and gave everything she had to ensure their well-being.

Alexis is survived by her sons Derek and his wife Lissette, and Don and his wife Princess, as well as her grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Ambrosio, Castrense Jr., Tomasa, Sheila, Jose, Priscilla, and Nicanor.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, her husband Delfin, her son Dale, and the siblings who passed before her.

Catholic tradition was important to Alexis, and her family takes comfort in knowing she has returned to God's embrace and to the loved ones awaiting her.

Her legacy is one of strength, love, and devotion to family. She will be remembered as a woman who lived with conviction, protected those she loved, and gave her whole heart to her family.
