Al Puig was born on October 21, 1949. He was a devoted and loving husband, a proud family man, and a hardworking individual known for his strength, determination and resilience. He remain steadfast and courageous throughout his battle with cancer!!
Al passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife, and his stepson.
He grow up in Roanoke, Virginia, Al graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Industrial engineer. He had a deep love for the outdoors enjoying hockey—both watching and playing—along with skiing and hiking. Above all, his greatest passion was traveling the world with his beloved wife, Ana Maria creating memories that will be cherished forever!!
Al found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved grilling steaks using his own special seasoning, though his ultimate favorite food was pizza!!
He is survived by his wife, Ana Maria Calle: stepson, Pablo Brescia; his brother, Robert Puig; his children, Scott Puig and Melinda Kessler; and his grandchildren, Jacob Puig, Gavin Puig, and Ethan Puig.
He also had a great appreciation for fine scotch, and one of his most meaningful trips was to Scotland, where he toured distilleries and immersed himself in the craft he admired so much. Al had a keen eye for photography and loved capturing moments that reflected his spirit and the people he loved.
Al will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers and all those whose lives he touched with his strength, warmth, and quiet kindness. He will be especially missed by his wife, Ana Maria, whom he lovingly referred to as “Mona, you are the light of my life!" His memory will live on in the stories shared, the places traveled, and the love he leaves behind.
