Obituary

Amador Licon, born on May 21, 1933 in El Paso Texas, passed peacefully on Thursday May 3rd, in his Laguna Beach home. He battled Alzheimer illness for several years.
He was lovingly known as Senor Licon to his students, Al to friends and colleagues and Moy to his entire family. Born to Amador Licon Sr. and Rita Licon. He has four siblings: Dagoberto Licon (passed) (maryLou), Elva Gonzalez (Jose), Rose Alvarez (Joe) and Rene Saul Licon (Rosa Elva).
He graduated from Bowie High School in 1952. He attended Texas Western University receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1956. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957.
Amador and his family moved to California in 1961 to Montebello and later to Pico Rivera. He was hired as a Spanish teacher by the Laguna Beach School District in 1961 and taught there until he retired in 1988. He was an excellent teacher, well respected, loved, and admired by his students and other teachers alike.
He took a great deal of pride of always being there for his family and friends until the end. He was very compassionate to an elderly lady in need from Mexico whom he helped financially until she passed. He was very patient with a great heart and amazing listener. He loved to travel, read, attend shows, operas and to collect antiques especially of religious nature. Turning his home to a museum as some neighbors put it. His lasted wishes were to be cremated. He is survived by his life partner Gregory Boucher.
A memorial service will be held at Mission Basilica San in Juan Capistrano on Friday June 1st, 2018 at 10. 00AM followed by a reception at Women's club of Laguna Beach. It is the family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders be made in his memory.
One last word, He has Enlighted and touched so many lives with his love, compassion, understanding and kindness. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
