Amry Ahluwalia, age 69, of Orange County, California passed away on January 16, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.
Amry was born in Medan, Indonesia to parents Uttam Singh Ahluwalia and Swarni Ahluwalia on April 18, 1952. Amry is one of eight children and sibling to Jeet, Kuku, Guddie, Chany, Romy, Baby, and Shashi. After attending Rock Cliff school in Mussoorie, India, he moved back to Indonesia and attended Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School where he finished his education. He then made his way to America, where he moved to San Francisco in 1977. From there, Amry migrated to Los Angeles, CA in 1979, where brothers Amry and Chany opened their first restaurant called The Blue Bistro.
On November 30th, 1986, Amry married his beautiful wife, Seema Ahluwalia. The devotion and love they nurtured grew for the next 35 years. Amry and Seema's past time included taking long drives near the ocean, devoting time to family & faith, and long talks over their morning chai.
In 1989, the Ahluwalia brothers opened Proline Golf in Indonesia. A family business that Amry took pride in because he was able to work with the ones he loved.
One of Amry's biggest accomplishments was being a father. He always wanted children and considered himself lucky to have three beautiful blessings: Jaseema, Tanisha, and Jevin. They called their father a superhero, even as adults they still see him that way. Not only was he a father to his children, but he was a father figure and mentor to many.
Amry's pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He greeted the world through his heart. A warm and generous soul, he was an inspiration to those he came into contact with.
He was known for his ability to sense when people needed his help. Amry embodied the life of 'seva', which in Sikhism means selfless and voluntary service for the benefit of humanity. He and Seema would attend services at Gurdwara multiple times a week. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to him. Amry had a passion for spending time with friends and family, traveling, watching the Lakers, & exploring his love of international cuisines. He also had a passionate love affair with ice-cream and sweets.
Amry Ahluwalia is survived by his wife, three children, and son-in-law. On Friday, January 21, 2022 we celebrate in honor of the life of Amry Ahluwalia at 10:00 am in Laguna Hills, CA.
