Andrew Y. Suzuki, age 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 14th. Born April 1st, 1950 in Los Angeles, California to Henry and May Suzuki, he was a proud graduate of the Cal Berkeley School of Architecture. He met his soulmate Denise Khoury on Let's Make a Deal, and later married her on August 29th, 1981, in Newport Beach.
Andy has been a practicing residential architect since 1973, and eventually went on to create his own architectural firm, Suzuki Designs. His consummate professionalism and expertise won him the respect of his peers and a sterling reputation.
During his younger years, he enjoyed beach volleyball, body surfing and partying with his friends, and later went on to get interested in hockey, where he coached and managed several different teams for his son, Austin, and University High School.
There was nothing more important to Andy than his family. No matter what the occasion, whether grand or small, he put everything else aside to be there for his loved ones. Whether he was attending a hockey game, setting up an extravagant 50th birthday party for his wife, or taking a weekend to go on a camping trip with his son, there was never any doubt that he'd be there, ready and able.
He lived life with boundless generosity, kindness, and integrity, and was always willing to go out of his way to lend a hand to those in need.He carried himself like a charming cowboy from the Westerns he enjoyed so much and was never without a warm smile or an affable nature, parts of his personality that earned him friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Denise, his son, Austin, his sister, Ruthann, as well as the many cousins, nieces, and nephews of the Suzuki family.
For those looking for a way to honor his memory, we ask that you please make a charitable donation to the Friends of the Laguna Beach Dog Park on Laguna Canyon Road, where he spent many beautiful mornings with his big dog Mochi.
