Antoinette was born on March 29, 1922 and passed away at her home in Mission Viejo on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the age of 93. She was the second of three children born to Lucia and Michele Sabatino. For her first 14 years she lived in Ravenna, Ohio. The family moved to Venice, California in 1937 and she graduated from Venice High School in 1940. Shortly after graduation, Toni (as her many friends and family called her) went to work for Pacific Telephone in Santa Monica as a switchboard operator. In addition to connecting Hollywood legends such as Clark Gable, she worked through the night the day Pearl harbor was bombed. She retired from the phone company at the age of 62.
Toni married the love of her life, Charles Edward Thompson, on September 20, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They raised three daughters and lived in West Los Angeles until 2000 when they moved to Palmia in Mission Viejo.
Toni had a great love of life and unlimited energy. She enjoyed her family, career, travel and the many activities she participated in and friends she made while living at Palmia. She was happiest spending time with her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her courageous battle with cancer was an inspiration to her family. Her beautiful smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Toni was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Charles. She is survived by her daughters: Carol Mignacca of Mission Viejo, Janet and her husband Jerry Kasdorf of Coalinga, and Judith and her husband Dr. Jameel Hourani of Los Angeles. She is also survived by seven loving grandchildren: Cynthia and her husband John Olivier of Orange; Dr. Robert Mignacca and his wife Janis of Austin, Texas; Annette and her husband Matthew D'Urso of Cave Creek, Arizona; Christina and her husband Jonah Schwartz of San Francisco; Jamee Hourani of Boston, Massachusetts; and Jennifer and Juliette Hourani of Los Angeles. Toni was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
She is deeply missed and will forever be with us in our hearts.
