Obituary

With deep reverence, we honor the extraordinary life of Antonia Guevara Urias, fondly known as Toñita, who departed this life on August 3, 2026, at the age of ninety-nine. Toñita’s presence was a beacon of warmth, unwavering faith and a guiding light to all privileged to know her.

Born on May 11, 1927, Toñita’s journey was luminous with selfless devotion to family, friends, and those in need. Her existence was not merely lived; it was woven intricately with honesty, love, and loyalty, the hallmarks of her enduring legacy. Throughout the panorama of nearly a century, Toñita met life’s joys and adversities alike with a quiet fortitude and a humility rarely matched. Even as she faced her later years’ frailties with grace and courage, she rarely drew attention to her own burdens, instead fostering hope and perseverance in those around her.

At the core of Toñita’s life was an unshakeable commitment to her family. She stood as the unwavering pillar raising her four children singlehandedly, exemplifying sacrifice and immeasurable love. With steadfast resolve, she ensured her family flourished, finding immense joy in their growth and striving always to offer them the brightest paths forward. The family’s gratitude is everlasting, for her independence and self-reliance shaped their destiny and reflected her profound concern for their well-being.

Toñita’s heart, generous and compassionate, reached far beyond her immediate family. She managed her parents’ real estate legacy with conscientious dedication, honoring their memory and ensuring their values endured. Professionally and personally, she led with integrity, embracing hard work and consistency. Her daily endeavors were motivated not by ambition for recognition but by a quiet purpose to serve and uplift others.

She delighted in the vibrant tapestry of life: convivial gatherings, the satisfaction of industrious labor, comfort, beauty, and the pleasures of good food. Both friends and family cherished her for her warmth and the serenity she brought into their lives. Her home and her heart were open sanctuaries for connection and celebration.

For Toñita, the foundations of character were her proudest achievements: self-reliance, honesty, unselfishness, stability. These qualities shone through in every act and utterance; she was always the embodiment of love, support, reliability, patience, and unwavering friendship. Even in challenging moments, she would quietly encourage others to remain hopeful and never lose faith. She lived each day with a positive outlook, refusing to yield to despair or discouragement.

Though she did not serve in the military, Toñita found immense pride in her grandson James Gaviria Diaz’s service in the Marine Corps, a testament to the values she had fostered within her family: courage, duty, and dedication.

Toñita’s absence leaves an immeasurable void among those who remain. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Lupe Diaz; her son-in-law, James Gaviria Santa; her grandsons, Andres Antonio Diaz, James Gaviria Diaz, and Jay Delano Walker; and her granddaughter, Jaynessa Walker. Three of her children—Jorge Alberto Arana Guevara, Ana Evelyn Parada Guevara, and Hector Antonio Diaz Guevara—preceded her in death, each carried forever in her heart and memory.

Those who knew Toñita will forever treasure the gentle way she shaped their lives, and the light she brought to every gathering. Her spirit lives on in every gesture of kindness, in every act of honesty and loyalty, and in every member of her beloved family.

A Memorial Service in honor of Antonia Guevara Urias will be held on August 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McCormick & Son Mortuaries, located at 25002 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, California.

Toñita’s story is an enduring testament to humility, hope, and love. Though she has departed from our sight, her legacy, written not in grand gestures but in daily moments of tenderness and truth, will forever inspire all who were touched by her remarkable life.
