With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Apostolos Vasilakos, who departed this life peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Orange, California, surrounded by his loved ones. Apostolos was born on August 21, 1947, in the picturesque village of Petrina, Lakonia, Greece; a place that would shape his spirit and anchor his enduring love for family and tradition.

Apostolos lived a life rich in devotion, his heart forever entwined with those he cherished most. From the moment he met Georgia in high school, his adoration for her knew no bounds. Their lifelong partnership became a beacon of warmth and unity for their family. Apostolos is survived by his beloved wife, Georgia, whose unwavering companionship illuminated his days.

He leaves behind treasured memories with his children: Eugenia, Panagiota, Argeroula, and Anastasios, each holding a special place in his heart, his love never wavering nor favoring. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law, Veronica, and his sons-in-law, Daryoush and Dutch; and his nieces and nephew, and grandchildren.

For Apostolos, family was everything. He made sure each member never wanted for love or guidance, whether by sharing his enthusiasm for cars, ensuring each had one to call their own, or imparting his wisdom about real estate. Every lesson came with his signature sincerity and humor.

He never once faltered on the promises he made, most notably the one he gave to his mother: to bring his grandchildren home each year to Petrina, so the roots of their heritage would never fade. These annual journeys bound the generations, weaving together past and present with laughter, storytelling, and music. Those who knew Apostolos will fondly recall his voice filling the room with beloved songs like "Besame Mucho" and "Asta Ta Malakia Sou," and his love of dancing that invited family and friends alike to join in his joy.

Teaching his children how to drive, cheering them through life’s milestones, and introducing them to Kortsina, a card game, are all cherished moments that he held dear.

Apostolos’ pride ran deeper still through his accomplishments. A talented athlete in his youth, he excelled at discus in high school, demonstrating discipline and competitive spirit early on. In his later years, he filleted hundreds of pounds of fish each week at his restaurants, embodying dedication, skill, and hospitality in all that he did.

Those who had the privilege of loving Apostolos knew a man of integrity, gentleness, and profound generosity. His legacy endures not only in precious family customs, but in a warmth that continues to inspire all whose lives he touched.

Friends and family are invited to honor Apostolos’ memory at the Funeral Service, which will take place at 11:00 AM on July 23, 2026, at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 31612 El Camino Real, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675. Following the service, a Graveside Service will be held at Ascension Cemetery, 24754 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630, at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to gather and share remembrances over a luncheon at Mimi's Cafe, 4030 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92604, beginning at 2:30 PM.
