IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Ruth
Mack
January 23, 1942 – June 11, 2022
In the beginning, Barbara Ruth Mack was born to the late Solomon Henry Miller and Edith Elnora LeDeaux Miller on January 23, 1942, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the second of two girls and both she and her sister, Gwendolyn, were raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana amongst a large extended family where she happily remained until the early death of her mother in 1960.
It was at that time, she moved to Compton, California to live with her aunt, Aurelia LeDeaux Samuels and family. While there, she finished high school graduating from Compton Senior High in 1961. She continued her studies for a year at Compton Junior College. She also worked at Hughes Aircraft where she helped in the assembly of the first rover to land on the moon.
She then met the love of her life, Clifford Edward Mack, at a New Year's Eve party, and after a brief courtship, they married on July 6, 1963. A year later, after moving to Washington DC. she gave birth to her only child, Clifford Edward Mack, Jr. They then settled in her husband's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
There, she became a young homemaker, a gifted seamstress, a jewelry maker and a prolific craftsperson. She started a business, Barbara's Creations and Things and began special event planning. It was also in Pittsburgh where Barbara began to cultivate her deep faith in Jesus Christ. She eventually received her certificate of ministry from the Greater Works Outreach School of Ministry. In 1982, the family relocated back to southern California where Barbara started another business, B&B's Arts and Crafts and was active in many religious organizations including the Song of Solomon, an association catering to the needs of struggling artists. She was an active member of the Crenshaw Christian Center and participated in numerous affiliated bible study fellowships. Barbara remained a devout Christian throughout her life.
She received her angels' wings on June 11, 2022.
Barbara leaves to mourn her husband, Clifford E. Mack, Sr., her son, Clifford E. Mack, Jr., her sister, Dr. Gwendolyn E. Dillard, her nephew, Richard P. McRae plus a host of extended family and friends.
She will be lovingly missed.
