Obituary

Bonnie Ellen Kingsland, born March 5, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022. She was known as "Big Mama" to her husband and kids, and "Grammy" to her grandkids. Bonnie was born to John and Doris Marsh; she has two siblings Jeannie and Jay. Bonnie grew up in Torrance, CA and attended Torrance High School, graduating in 1968. Her dad passed away while she was in high school. Her mother remarried Benny Mitchell, and he helped raise Bonnie and was very involved in her life. After graduating high school, Bonnie worked for Toyota and Continental Airlines.

In the spring of 1974, she met the love of her life Larry Kingsland at the Colorado River. They got married a year later. Shortly after getting married, Larry and Bonnie moved to Oklahoma City. Larry opened a new sales office for custom wheels and Bonnie became his bookkeeper. The following year, they moved to Houston, TX to open another sales office, and Bonnie continued to help Larry with the accounting. In the spring of 1979, Bonnie gave birth to a baby girl, Erica. The following year Larry opened a new business, Progressive Custom Wheels. Bonnie continued to work with Larry until her baby boy, Zak, was born in 1981.

The family decided to come home to California in 1984. They lived in Rancho Palos Verdes, and then moved to Riverside in 1986. The family lived in Riverside for fourteen years. Bonnie was busy raising Erica and Zak, and she was very involved in their school and extracurricular activities. After the kids went off to college in San Diego, Larry and Bonnie relocated to Orange County. In 2001, they opened a family business, Boze Alloys. Bonnie helped with the bookkeeping. In 2002, Bonnie decided to get a job at the "Happiest Place on Earth". She worked there for over ten years and received her Golden Ears before retiring in 2013. During the next five years, all three of her grandchildren were born.

Bonnie loved spending time with her family and babysitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to El Cholo for margaritas. Bonnie loved going to the beach and her and Larry would always go to their favorite beach spot at South Doheny. Bonnie loved to read. She and Larry enjoyed getting together with friends for dinner. She also loved going to concerts and went to many over the years, most recently to see the Rolling Stones. Larry and Bonnie liked to take road trips, to the central coast and up to the high sierras. Bonnie is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Erica, son-in-law Chris, son Zak and daughter-in-law Lesley, grandchildren Taylor, Marley and Jake, nieces Dawn Marie, Chelsea and Devin, and nephew Jarred.
