IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian Douglas
Markham
November 12, 1951 – October 28, 2024
Brian Douglas Markham, age 72, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at Hoag Hospital in Irvine, California, after a courageous battle with Prostate Cancer. Brian was born to Douglas and Joan on November 12, 1951, in Hackney, London. He spent his childhood with his two brothers, Paul (passed) and Alan, in Highbury, North London. This is also where he found his love for soccer and the Arsenal Football Club.
Brian attended Kennylands Boarding School for five years, a place he held close to his heart throughout his life. Brian excelled athletically from any early age, competing in the long jump and on the school football team.
After graduating from North East London Polytechnic with a degree in Computer Science and Business, Brian's career as a software developer took him around the world, from the UK to Switzerland and Singapore. He ultimately settled in Southern California in 1981, where he went on to start a family and continued to work in Software Engineering.
Brian's greatest joy in his life were his four children: Christopher (34), Nicholas (33), Natasha (33), and Merrielle (25); and his two grandchildren: Harper (12 weeks) and Milo (8 weeks).
Brian was passionate about spending time with family, watching Arsenal games, and taking long walks in Laguna Beach with his dog, Gunner. Brian lived in Laguna Woods for the last 3 years where he loved being a part of the social clubs and had a great community of friends. In 2023, he won the club championship for the Bocce Ball league.
Brian's legacy will be one of resilience, which lives on through his family and the indelible mark he left on those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
