IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce
Dunkle
November 10, 1936 – February 1, 2023
Bruce Dunkle, born on November 10th, 1936 in Seattle Washington peacefully passed on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills. Born to Wesley Earl Dunkle and Gladys Elizabeth Borthwick, he had 2 brothers Jack Dunkle (passed), William Dunkle (Passed), and half-sister Diana Edwardes.
Bruce enlisted in the Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1963.
He worked for United Airlines for 32+ years. He started as a ramp serviceman and soon after enrolled in flight school. His first station as a pilot was in Portland, Oregon. His final flight was from Honolulu, Hawaii to LAX. He is survived by his wife Peggy Jacobs Dunkle, his daughter Sheila Sadkowski, son Jon Jacobs and granddaughter Rhiannon Jacobs and their families.
His father was a miner in Alaska which is where Bruce's love of geology started. He earned his degree in geology at the University of Washington and later earned a second degree at the University of Denver.
He loved retirement, taking pictures, and reading. Whenever he bought something new, he would read the owners manual cover to cover to ensure he knew exactly how the item worked. He always looked forward to going out to eat at BJ's but especially loved that first sip of his tall blonde!
Bruce was the life of the party. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed talking to people. "God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be; So He put his arms around him and whispered come with me."
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Bruce's favorite charitiesa The Geological Society of America or United States Navy Memorial.
