Bruce Leroy Hefley born July 28, 1935 in Anderson, Missouri to Leroy and Ollie Hefley.Moving to Reno, Nevada in 1941.He passed away peacefully in his home on December 29, 2019 in Orange County, CA.
He served in the US Navy from November 1954 until July 1961.December 21, 1955 while on leave visiting a past coach at Reno High School, he met his soon to be bride, Sharon Sibson.It was love at first sight.Telling her "I'm going to marry you."They dated one month and married January 21, 1956.They started their family in 1957, having five children.His passion was his family.He was a wonderful husband and father.
Bruce always wanted to be in law enforcement.On July 1, 1971 he started working for the Washoe County Sheriffs Department, retiring January 4, 1994.In January of the following year he and his bride traveled until settling down in Orange County, CA.
His son David Hefley passed away in 1990.Surviving are his widow Sharon Hefley of Orange County, CA.Sister Dorothy Meneese of Stockton, CA.Son Eric Hefley and Wife Wendy of Las Vegas, NV, daughters Linda Gabriel and Husband John of Reno, NV, Kathie Darling of Orange County, CA. and Tammy Hefley-Crook and husband Harry of Orange County, CA.11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.
