Obituary

Carmelo Ramos Yutangco, a devoted family man, skilled civil engineer, and quietly steadfast soul, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Park Anaheim, California. Born on March 15, 1954, in Manila, Philippines, Carmelo’s journey through life was marked by an unassuming dignity and an open heart that touched the lives of all who knew him.

A consummate professional, Carmelo dedicated his career to public service as a civil engineer with the Local Waters Utilities Administration in Quezon City. His expertise and commitment earned him a prestigious opportunity to study abroad in the Netherlands, where he completed a master’s degree in hydraulics with distinction. Despite his notable achievements, he remained the silent type, quietly contributing to the betterment of his community with unwavering humility.

Beyond his career, Carmelo was a man of deep faith and integrity. He held a profound love for the Word of God and the uplifting power of worship songs, faithfully walking his spiritual path without succumbing to the pressures of the world. His faith was a cornerstone of his character, reflecting a peaceful strength that inspired those around him.

In his personal life, Carmelo found joy in simple pleasures. He delighted in cooking and especially loved savoring kare-kare, a favorite dish that brought warmth and comfort to his family gatherings. Basketball also held a special place in his heart, a passion that entertained him and connected him to a broader community of fans and friends.

Carmelo is lovingly remembered by his wife, Doris Yutangco, whose companionship and support were constants in his life. His pride and joy were his children: Janice Yutangco, his beloved daughter, and Jan Raymond Yutangco, his devoted son. Together, they formed the heart of his world, and his legacy of quiet strength and love will live on through them.

Family, friends, and all who wished to honor Carmelo’s memory are invited to gather for visitation and services at McCormick & Son Mortuaries in Laguna Hills, California. Visitation will be held on April 1, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a reception from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.

Carmelo Ramos Yutangco’s life may have been marked by a reserved demeanor, but his impact was profound and enduring. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known him. In honoring Carmelo, we remember not only the engineer and the faithful worshiper but the cherished husband, father, and friend whose gentle spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
