Obituary

Cecile Anne Magliano Wren passed on February 5, 2026. Cecile was born in Astoria, New York to Vivian and John Magliano. She grew up in Jackson Heights and lived there until 1972 when she married Tom Wren.

Cecile is survived by her husband Tom, sister Marie and brother John. Her sister-in-laws: Marie, Patricia, and Johanna and brother-in-laws: Marty (passed) and Raymond and her nephews: Mark (passed), Jason, David, John, Robert and Joseph.

Cecile was a respected member of Long Island and Westchester school communities for over 50 years. She began her career as a high school mathematics teacher at Christ the King High School. At the Great Neck Public Schools, Cecile was a middle school mathematics teacher, Computer Coordinator, and Dean of Students. Cecile entered the field of Administration and was an Assistant Principal in the Harborfields Central School District, an Elementary Principal in the North Merrick School District, a Middle School Principal in the Mount Pleasant School District and a Middle School Principal at Jericho Middle School in New York.

Upon retirement in 2006, she worked as an educational consultant with school districts to change the fabric of their school communities through Social and Emotional Literacy, UPSTANDER Responsibility, and the Theory of Self-First. In addition, Cecile became a certified test administrator and coach for the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), a NYS approved DASA Instructor, and online instructor for NYS Teacher Centers. Cecile demonstrated the leadership skills that are essential in creating a collaborative culture that allows all constituencies to learn, grow, and achieve together and to understand what she called the new golden rule - treating people the way they need to be treated.

Cecile loved the time spent with family and friends. Always making sure that a friend had someone to share a holiday with. If they did not, they would be asked to be part of Cecile's family tradition started by her grandmother to reach out to those in need.

Cecile and Tom loved to travel and enjoyed playing tennis and golf together. They loved fine dining, cooking together, and creating special dishes enhanced with a special glass of wine.

Cecile will be remembered for her compassion towards the needs of others, her demonstration of unconditional love, and her understanding of what St. Frances told us..."in giving we receive."
