Obituary

Charles Russell Eastman, Russ to all who knew him, went home to be with his Lord and Savior February 2, 2021. He and his twin brother, Ken, were born to Robert and Barbara Eastman on August 1, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. Two other siblings, David Eastman and Carol Eastman (Schrader), soon followed. He grew up in Newport Beach, California where he met and married Dottie Tuttle on October 16, 1976. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage living in Costa Mesa, Lake Forest and ending up in Mission Viejo where their children, Emily Eastman (Swingholm) and Cameron Eastman, were raised. He welcomed with open arms Michael Swingholm and Katie Eastman and all four of his grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob Swingholm and Hazel and Cora Eastman into the family.

Russ graduated from Orange Coast College with a certificate in airframe and power plant. He worked on fixed wing aircraft for a year then moved to helicopters where he spent the next 45 years working on police helicopters for the cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Anaheim and the Orange County Sheriff.

Russ loved God, his family, his friends and his country. He always saw the best in people. He was a friend to many and loved by all who knew him. He had a servant's heart and was always willing to help anybody in need. Over the years he served his church as an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader, junior high worship leader, ESL teacher, communion coordinator, lock up guy and event set up and take down helper.

Russ lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed surfing, golfing, playing pickle ball and racquetball, backpacking, camping, snorkeling, skiing, bike riding and going to the beach. He especially enjoyed Sunday's golfing with his Dad (95 years old) and brothers and various other family members and the Eastman family dinners that followed. He shared his love of nature with his children and grandchildren.

His life was well lived.
