Charles "Skip" S. Hall, Age 72, went to his final resting place on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in his home in Mission Viejo, California after a brave fight to regain his health from cancer and heart disease. He was born on July 16, 1946 in Pasadena, California. On the same day as his birth he was adopted by his loving parents, Charles and Barbara May Hall and was the older of two children.Skip was named by his Grandpa DoDo, his mother's father. He called him his little Skipper because he was always running and skipping around. He was a happy boy so the name stuck.
Skip graduated from Glendale Academy in 1964. The Free Spirit that he was, found him living in Newport Beach as a surf bum with his high school friend Ron, later in Mammoth Lakes as a ski patrol and lead singer in a band at a local restaurant. In later life his motto was "Aint No Practice Run!!". He has a registered copyright on that one!
In 1966 he joined the Army.Because of his expertise at selling himself, he became the lifeguard at Fort Hood and was assigned there during his "deployment". He continually amazed his family! An athlete he truly was! In the early sixties he learned to barefoot ski before anyone knew what it was. He was an expert water skier, snow skier, baseball player, body surfer, virtually anything that crossed his path he excelled at.He made sure that his children also experienced everything in life so that they would know what "achievement" meant. He surely succeeded at his goal.
Skip was a salesman from day one. It was always said, "He could sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo!" He proved this correct by attaining greatness in the automobile industry. In the 70's he started his career as a car salesman. He would eventually become the General Manager at many dealerships he worked for. He kept striving to be better at what he did and eventually climbed the corporate ladder to be Head of Sales for the Hyundai Corporation. He traveled the western states teaching the car dealers how to sell cars. His motto was always "Make A Friend". He turned around many companies.
On August 21, 1983 on top of a Victorian home in Sunset Beach, Skip married the love of his life Jeannie Stonbraker-Hall. It was an amazing "Cowboy Wedding" officiated by his Father, Pastor Charles R. Hall all decked out in his Preacher Man outfit. It was a wedding to remember. Skip and Jeannie always did everything first class. They were two free spirits that enabled each other to attain the great things they wanted in life. Two of the most precious and greatest achievements in their life together were their daughter, Carly Janine and Son, Cody Brandan. They have continued in Skip and Jeannie's footsteps, Carly achieving recognition in sales and Cody as Petty Officer First Class Machinery Technician in the United States Coast Guard. They were truly Skip's pride and joy.
Everyone was his friend and no one was a stranger to Skip. Everyone always felt welcomed at his house for BBQ's, holidays and any other reason to entertain friends. You might say he didn't have any acquaintances only friends. Every summer he took his family and friends back to his favorite vacation spot, Bass Lake, to recreate the fun, happiness and beauty for his family. Skip certainly made an impact on this world! From portraying the "Gilligan's Island Clan", "The Flintstones", "Hells Angels", or"Old People", Skip and his friends entertained many on cruises that made the real entertainment pale in comparison.
Skips final act was to use his talents to perform weddings for friends and clients. Because he respected his father and watched him love and care for people, his last job on this earth was to join others in marriage as his father had done. He named his new found passion "The Son of a Preacher Man", and that he certainly was!
Skip is survived by his wife, Jeannie Stonbraker-Hall, Daughter and Family: Carly& (Kevin) Hall-Fleisher, Olivia Rose Fleisher, Son and Family: Cody & (Tania) Hall, Layla and Lillian Hall, Stepmother: Earlaine Core Hall, Sister: Cathleen Hall & (Robert) Babcock, Ryanand Craig Babcock and many other In-laws, nephews and cousins.
Skips life was a life well lived without pretenses. You might say "He Did It His Way".
The Glow
I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when life is done
