Obituary

Charles Allen Ordahl (Chuck), born October 28, 1934 in Grafton, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 in Irvine, CA from post hip replacement surgical complications. He was born to Violet and Oscar Ordahl and had one sibling a sister, Susan Eggen.

He moved to California in 1956, the day after he graduated from the University of North Dakota, where he started his career as an electrical engineer at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica. He worked for Douglas Aircraft/McDonnell Douglas/Boeing his entire career and was very proud that he continued to consult for Boeing until he was 85 years old.  While he had many large and important roles over the years, what he truly loved was sharing his experiences so that others might benefit from the lessons he learned along the way.

He met the love of his life, Eileen Lembke, in 1955 at a New Years Eve dance in North Dakota.  They were married in 1958 in California and lived their entire adult lives in southern California.  Their primary home has been in Newport Beach for the last 55 years.  They traveled the world together for work and pleasure, visiting every continent and over fifty countries but his favorite place on earth was their mountain cabin at Lake Arrowhead, CA.  He loved to sit on the dock and fish.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eileen, his daughter Charlotte Chamberlin, son-in-law Tim, son Kevin Ordahl and daughter-in-law Peaches Ordahl and grandchildren Caitlin, Taylor, Carter and Erik, as well as his sister Susan Eggen and brother-in-law Roger Eggen.

He will be remembered as a smart, humble, honest, loyal and caring man who was passionate about missiles, rockets and space.
