Charlotte Louise Chiasson passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 12, 2020 in Laguna Hills. Born on December 10, 1940 , in Indianapolis, Indiana-to Forrest and Martha Glidewell – Charlotte was the oldest of three. Her two siblings are Russell Glidewell and Pam Murphy. Charlotte worked at Rockwell for a time, and it is there she met her future husband, Tom (deceased). They were married on April 14, 1962 in Westminster, California. They had three children, Michael (deceased), Patrick, and Christopher.
Charlotte is survived by two of her sons: Pat and Chris; her daughters-in-law: Julie, Patty, and Noelle; her grandchildren: Spencer, Andrew, Alexandria, and Trent; her brother Russell and his wife Judy, along with their children and their families; and her sister Pam, along with her children and their families.
Growing up, it was a tradition in the Glidewell family to have a nickname. Charlotte's nickname was "Peachy". Her siblings were told she was called that because she was always so sweet to everyone. As she got older, she outgrew the nickname itself – however she continued to be such a sweet and kind woman throughout her life.
She was the oldest sibling, so often had to take care of Russ and Pam, but she never complained and was very protective. Even at a young age, Charlotte was destined to become a great mom. Charlotte loved to cook and bake. She loved to make cookies and home-made fudge for her family growing up, which was a big treat back then. She continued that throughout her life. Her family could always count on a Bunny shaped decorated cake every Easter, and all kinds of homemade baked goodies at Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas – that was hands down Charlotte's favorite holiday. She would decorate for weeks, and the family Christmas tree always had a wide array of ornaments. Any type of ornament you could imagine. And when the grandkids came along, she took such joy in having a big Santa bag for each of them, filled with all types of goodies big and small. The grandkids would practically have to crawl into their bags to get everything out, and the delight on Charlotte's face was a joy to see. She would make her famous homemade mac & cheese, to complement the rest of the food, that would fill everyone's tummy (until time for her yummy desserts!).
Charlotte and Tom were happily married for 55 years before Tom passed away in 2017.Their social life was centered on their church andthe catholic school their boys went to.They were heavily involved with the school activities, church clubs and other groups. They belonged to a camping club for many years, where they made lifelong friends on their monthly camping excursions. Charlotte could often be found next to Tom at one of their kids various sports games, and that continued with the grandkids, cheering on the sidelines at games, and clapping at choir and theatre performances.
Charlotte gave birth to 3 sons, but desperately wanted a daughter. When each of her sons married, she got her wish, and treated her daughter-in-laws as if they were her own. While her sons and daughters were no less loved by her, she reserved her greatest joy and love for her four grandchildren, taking special trips with them and lauding them with gifts.
Charlotte was known for her smile and her hugs. Her smile was infectious, and it was for everyone. It matched the love and care that she showed to everybody she met. Even towards the end, when she might not right away recognize who was visiting her, she would still give that warm inviting smile. Charlotte was a hugger. Hello hugs, goodbye hugs, I love you hugs, and on. She will be remembered for those things but also for the way she carried herself; always looking her best, representing herself and her family with dignity and a regal essence, and getting respect from others the best way to earn it: by giving respect first.
She will be deeply and sorely missed, but never forgotten by those she touched.
"We live to dance another day
It's just now we have to dance for one more of us
So stop looking so damn depressed
And sing with all your hearts, long live the Queen". – Frank Turner
Charlotte will be buried with her husband Tom at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego with a private ceremony.
