Charlotte L. Colburn, 69, a resident of Laguna Woods since 2016, passed away on June 7 at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, California following a long illness.
Charlotte was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1950. Her mother relocated the family to the Philadelphia area when Charlotte was two years old.Charlotte grew up in Ardsley, Pennsylvania and attended Abington High School, graduating in 1968.She married Lee Colburn on March 7, 1970, and during fifty years of marriage, they lived in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Salt Lake City, Utah before settling in Southern California in 1986.Charlotte is survived by her husband Lee, her sons Kevin, Brian and their wives, sister Janet Wardle, brother Harold Bish, stepfather George Wardle, and her seven grandchildren; Mikolas, Dyllan, Isabel, Matthew, Annica, Bennett, and Teddy.Charlotte is preceded in death by her mother, Dolores Wardle, brothers Carl Bish and Douglas Wardle.
Charlotte was both a pioneer and a nationally known figure in the medical documentation industry.In 1989, she founded Record Plus, which went on to become a premier medical transcription company.In the 1990s, she was a founding member of MTIA (Medical Transcription Industry Association).As President of MTIA and as a consultant, Charlotte's contributions were integral to healthcare documentation efficiencies and advancement.Her influence remains to this day.
Charlotte loved life and she lived it to the fullest.She was an explorer, history buff, and an avid reader.She refused to let doubt or criticism shake her resolve or limit her pursuits.

On June 15, at 2 PM, a memorial service will be held at McCormick & Son Funeral Home, located at 25002 Moulton Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92637.Flowers can be sent to McCormick & Sons as well.
