Ching Shan Kong was born on April 26th, 1974 in Fuzhou, China, and passed away suddenly on December 11th, 2025 on the island of Guam.

Throughout his 51 years of life, Ching moved halfway across the world, from his hometown in China, to Hong Kong, to Washington D.C., then to Connecticut, where he attended high school and graduated from Fairfield University.

He met his wife, Kelly Zhang, while a graduate student at Northwestern University. From there, he and Kelly moved to Irvine, California and got married during his pursuit of another degree in the field of computer science at UCI.

He used this degree in his professional career, starting at Areté Associates and then at The Aerospace Corporation. His career allowed him to support his family, including three children: Nathan, Leon, and Joanna and his parents who lived with him.

At home, Ching was very involved in home improvement projects, applying the breadth of his technical knowledge to make upgrades and repairs around the house. This also included maintaining a backyard full of exotic plants, keeping chickens, and cooking Cantonese- and American-style delicacies.

He is fondly remembered as a son, brother, husband, and father. He was known by family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and church family alike for his mentorship, sense of humor, and generosity.

Funeral services will be held at Irvine's First Chinese Baptist Church (3785 University Dr, Irvine, CA 92612) at 10 AM on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.

江青 (又名:薛青山)出生于中国福州1974年4月26号,逝世于美属关岛2025年12月11号。享年51岁。
他曾在香港和华盛顿市读小学,在康涅狄格读中学,在Fairfield, Northwestern和UC Irvine就读。曾任职于Arete Associates和The Aerospace Corporation。
他于1998年受洗,是尔湾第一华人浸信会和尔湾华人基督教会的长期会友。
他留下了他的父母,妻子和三个子女,还有两个姐姐以及众多亲友。
为寄托哀思,谨定于2026年1月3号(星期六)上午10点在尔湾第一华人浸信会举行追思礼拜。望各位亲朋好友届时前往悼念。
