Obituary

Dr. Chong Soon Khang, M.D.
11/22/1941 – 01/15/2024

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Dr. Khang passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, surrounded by his family, in Irvine, California. He lived gracefully and devoted his entire life to his wonderful and faithful wife, children and grandchildren. Family was everything to him. He was a gentle soul, an angel.

To his family, he was the very best of the best. We knew no better man in our lives. He was a true hero and his devotion to family was unmatched. His health rapidly deteriorated in his final days but even through the pain, his eyes twinkled with delight whenever he saw his wife, kids and grandkids.

Dr. Khang met the love of his life, Bong Ahe Khang, while attending medical school in Korea. It was love at first sight. He would ride the bus for hours just to see her. His love for her, among other things, drove him to excel in school and succeed in life. His loving wife supported him every
step of the way.

Dr. Khang obtained his medical degree from Yonsei University and immigrated to the United States in 1970 with his wife and 2 boys to start a new life here. He first arrived in Pontiac, Michigan for his internship and training, then moved to New York for his residency at New York University before settling down in Manistee, Michigan for 10 years. In 1987, he moved out to California where he settled for the remainder of his life.

After a full career in medicine, he retired and became a skilled and dedicated gardener. No matter the task, he always did everything with full attention and dedication to the best of his abilities. He exemplified excellence in every regard.

Dr. Khang is survived by his loving wife, Bong Ahe Khang; his first son, Joon Mo Khang and his wife, Judy Khang with grandchildren, Nicholas Khang (age 26), Dylan Khang (17) and Madison Khang (14); his second son, In Mo Khang and his wife, Annie Tai with grandchild, Matthew Khang (15).

He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We know he is resting in peace in Heaven and watching over us.
