Clare Fritzsche Newell was born on December 29, 1932 and passed away on July 14, 2016 at the age of 83 in Lake Forest, California. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Michael Newell (Thuy), Patrick Newell (James), Marion Colburn (John), Kevin Newell (Lynne), Joseph Newell (Stacy), and Rose Newell (Roxann), and her grandchildren: Natalie, Andrew, Sydney, Jacob, Kyle, Tyler, Trevor and Kate as well as her brother Hank Fritzsche and sisters-in-law Dolores Fritzsche and Pinkie Fritzsche, brother-in-law August Felando and more nieces, nephews, cousins and pets than one can count.

Clare was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Margaret and William Fritzsche. In 1962 she married the love of her life, Paul Newell, in Los Angeles. Paul passed away in 1988. Clare grew up in Hollywood and later lived in San Gabriel, Glendora, and Lake Forest, CA. She was a recent resident of Freedom Village in Lake Forest.

Clare loved cooking, baking, knitting, and was a voracious reader. Her strong faith was recognized by all who knew her well. Clare attended Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Canada and graduated from College of the Pacific. She was a treasured friend to many, a loving and engaged teacher and volunteer with an equally wonderful sense of humor. Clare adored, and will be sorely missed by, her friends and family.

Clare was actively involved in planning this celebration of her life and requested plants (that can be planted in the ground after the ceremony) in lieu of floral arrangements.
