Obituary

Colleen Ethel McKernan Remeyer was born on July 29, 1959, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was the fifth child of Edward and Laurel McKernan. The family moved to Garden Grove California in 1964 where their home on Flether Drive was the hub for celebrations of family and friends and fund pool parties. Colleen was a pom-pom girl and voted the most beautiful girl at Garden Grove High School.

Colleen was caught toilet papering Remeyer's house which eventually led to the marriage of Colleen and Steve Reymeyer. On March 14, 1981, Colleen married Steve Remeyer at Saint Columban Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with three boys, Brandon, Blake, and Byron whom they raised together.

Colleen loved attending their sporting events and watching them sing. They had wonderful family vacations and loved going to the river! Colleen had so much fun wakeboarding, watching the kids raft, sunbathing, and ending the day with a twilight cruise. During the winter Colleen loved going to their Big Bear cabin and snow skiing. She also enjoyed walks on the beach. RVing, getting together with family and friends.

She delighted in sharing her beautiful voice. She sang at Saddleback church with the worship team, choir, Christmas carolers and Celebrate Recovery for over twenty years. She enjoyed listening to worship music, playing the piano and singing at parties, weddings, and birthdays. She was a dedicated, loving and kind mother. She was the driving force throughout her son Byron's recovery from a life-threatening auto accident.

Colleen loved to share her love of the Lord with her family, friends, and people she met throughout her life. Colleen was continually active at her church. She helped start a new church Saddleback Dana Point, went to Bible study, and volunteered at the church for over twenty years. During the last five years of her life, she fought cancer with dignity, grace, and faith.

Colleen entered Eternal Life on February 22,2024 in Mission Viejo, California. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Laurel McKernan and her brother James McKernan.
