Obituary

Daniel "Danny" Richard Gallego, born January 22, 1972, in Montebello, CA peacefully gave up his spirit to the Lord on Monday July 17th, 2023, while surrounded by his loved ones.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Raised in Montebello, CA by his Grandparents Alfonso Gallego and Maria Luz Gallego affectionately known as Tata and Nana he lived a rich life blessed with family and many friends. He was known for befriending everyone, especially those who needed a friend. His childhood days were spent with his cousins and friends riding bikes and playing at the riverbed. During his teenage years he enjoyed playing music with friends in various bands. He always recalled those backyard gig days fondly.

In 1997 he met his wife Suzanne "Suzy" Gallego on America Online or AOL. Their relationship being one of the first internet inspired loves. Shortly after he met Ramon "Junior", Suzy's son, and dedicated the rest of his life to being a loving, affectionate, funny, and caring father to him.

After exploring various career paths, he and his cousin Christopher "Red" Gallego opened a pizzeria known as Uncle Reds. Through this experience Danny gained the knowledge and wisdom to manage a business. The skills he developed led him to a very successful career with AT&T in a short amount of time. He worked very hard at developing himself as a caring, trustworthy, and ethical co-worker. Integrity was very important to Danny. Later in his career his co-workers developed an affection for him as a leader. They respected his no-nonsense approach and appreciated his efforts in helping them develop into the best possible version of themselves.

In 2017 Danny was diagnosed with a very rare cancer only classified as a sarcoma because that was the best category available to label it. Danny's greatest concern after finding out his diagnosis was to make sure his wife and son were taken care of after he left this world. He worked very hard to make this happen. And was very grateful to God for giving him the strength to overcome and provide for his family.

Danny enjoyed taking long drives and exploring the off-beaten path. He often found the most random places to visit like The Bottomless Lake in Roswell, NM and Billy The Kid's grave sight in Fort Sumner, NM. But his favorite place of all the places he ever traveled was Huntington Beach. He and his family would take drives several times a week to Huntington Beach and just watch the waves and feel the breeze. Sometimes he would sit and recall the fun times he had with his friends in high school bodyboarding in his younger days.

Danny is survived by his wife Suzy, son Junior, his mother Carmen, sisters Angie, Adrianne, Tam, brothers Andy and David and God-children Maya and Jameson. As well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Services to honor Danny's life on earth will be held on August 12th, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church in La Mirada, CA followed by a reception at McCormick and Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills.
