Obituary

Dee Fisher Thomsen, 76,  fun-loving Father, Brother, Friend and Husband passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 9, 2024.  He was born June 22, 1948 in Payson, Utah to Edward Ray and Florence Afton Fisher Thomsen.  He was raised on a farm in Benjamin, UT where he learned the value of hard work and became fond of caring for and showing animals in 4-H, taking pride in his FFA leadership role at Spanish Fork High.

Dee lit up the room with his brilliant smile and winning personality.  He was the true definition of a people person with an infectious laugh who always had a story to share.  Everyone knew of his gifted singing ability, even his pets. We remember the fun melodies he would sing from Pioneer to Christmas Songs, hymns, opera and early rock songs.
Hunting for deer, elk, pheasant, ducks, and fishing for trout, playing high school football and watching sports were all activities he enjoyed.

His singing and winning smile earned him the lead role in high school plays, including "Carousel", prompting him to begin many days singing "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" from that script.  He was always positive, cheerful and very easy going.

At age 19, Dee served a two and a half year mission for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints to Helsinki, Finland.  He would often say of his Mission, "Few were called and many were frozen."

After completing his mission, Dee attended Utah State University in Logan, UT earning a degree in Agricultural Economics.  During this time he met and married Lynette Ward from Spanish Fork. Upon graduating from USU they moved to California and were fortunate to adopt two beloved and amazing children, Shay and Robyn.
He had an impressive resume working  for the Federal Land Bank, the LDS Church, appraising and acquiring farm land to help develop humanitarian endeavors.

After divorce, Dee married Lee Anna Hanson in 1984 and started a new chapter of his life which brought two new daughters, Suzette and Heidi Janet. They spent a large amount of their family time camping along the Pacific Coast Highway and Central California at many State Parks such as Carpinteria, Tahoe, Malibu and Yosemite even celebrating the Christmas and Thanksgiving Holidays in a Van Conversion and PopUp Trailer.

Adding to his unrivaled employment history, Dee worked for Rabobank in the San Francisco Embarcadero and later as President of Sigman Meat Company in Arvada, Colorado then enjoyed his remaining career working at a golf course in Orange County, California as Marshal and in the Pro Shop.

His love for family, church , country and fellowmen was paramount in his life and he lived it in a way that gave his family a great deal of respect for him and made them proud to bear the Thomsen name.
