Devon Kahlil Moore, born February 8, 1993, in Laguna Beach, California, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at home.

Lovingly known as Dev, Bubba, and Brother to his family, Devon also gave himself the rap names D-Money and D-Mo.

Born to Deanna and Damon Moore, Devon grew up with three sisters, Shaunna, Jade, and Sage. In 2019, his father welcomed two more children, Steven and Ella, and Devon proudly embraced his new role as Brother.

From the beginning, Devon was a bright, sensitive, and deeply caring soul. As the only boy among sisters, his sensitive nature and compassion always stood out. He wasn't particularly fond of school, but he thrived outdoors and had a natural gift for sports.

In 2002, Devon joined the Pop Warner Football Mission Viejo Cowboys Team and quickly stood out as a great talent. He also loved playing basketball with his sister Jade and playing touch-football games with the neighborhood kids.

Devon's deepest passion, however, was music. Raised in a household filled with music playing often, he especially bonded with his sister Shaunna over hip-hop classics. Inspired, he began dreaming of becoming a hip hop artist: and D-Money was born. By 2011, Devon had written and recorded his first singles, determined to chase his dream.

Just one year later, at age 19, Devon suffered a psychotic break and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. His life took a heartbreaking turn, and he spent the years that followed fighting for stability and peace.

Despite unimaginable struggles, Devon never lost his love for his family, for music, and for hope. His dream was simple and pure: for everyone to be together and happy. He cherished holidays, family gatherings, and always reminded those around him of the power of unity, love and forgiveness.

Devon is survived by his parents, Deanna and Damon, his sisters, Ella, Sage, Jade and Shaunna (John), his brother, Steven, his neph-neph, Red, and his grandparents Esther, Christine, Ulysses, D'Moor and Lanei.

A service to honor Devon's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at McCormick & Son Mortuaries and Crematory, 1795 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.

An open viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for those who wish to see Devon and say goodbye. The closed casket funeral service will begin immediately afterward.
