Diane Marie Celaya was born June 15, 1940 and passed away on June 16, 2014 at the age of 74. She died peacefully at her home. Diane goes to join her loving sister, Lorraine Mandt. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Celaya. Together, they had two children, Robert Celaya, Jr. and Kathryn Gabrielian. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Marissa and Jake.
Diane was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the third of 4 children of Clarence and Elizabeth Mandt. Every summer her family would take a road trip from Michigan to California, where they vacationed and visited family. Eventually, they made the move to California permanently. Soon after graduating high school, Diane met Robert at a dance and ever since then, they have not spent a day apart. They were happily married on May 25, 1963.
Diane spent her life dedicated to her husband, children, and the Catholic church. She rarely missed a Sunday mass. When her children were in high school, she wanted to open her own business. So, with the support of her family, she proudly owned and operated a fabric store in Lake Forest called D Marie Fabrics. She could make anything, from window coverings to Halloween costumes for her kids. Sewing was a great passion of hers.
Her family will be saying their final goodbyes at a service at El Toro Memorial Park on Monday, June 23rd at 11 am.
