Donna Jacqualine Roush, born November 14, 1925, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 29, 2020 in Laguna Woods, CA.
Known as Jackie to all, she was born to Mabel and Lloyd Thompson of Three Rivers, Michigan and is survived by her brother Bob Thompson.Jackie married her high school sweetheart, Craig "Wally" Roush, upon his return from active duty in WWII in January 1946.
Jackie attended Lansing Business School and worked at Michigan's Department of State and Kaiser-Frazer.Her efforts helped finance Wally's college education.Following the birth of her children she devoted her time to raising her family.She is survived by her husband Wally, her daughter Terri Benes (Jim), son Craig Roush (Annette), grandchildren Matt, Katie, Craig, Bob, Scott, Amanda, Kathleen, and great-grandchildren Riley, Hunter, and Zach.
Jackie became an ardent painter whose works are displayed in many homes today.She loved tending to her yard and gardens.When inside the home, she challenged herself to learn to play the piano.In 1984 they moved to Fallbrook, California where her love for golf increased.Jackie won several tournaments while playing at her home course, Rancho Monserate. Her tee shots never strayed from the fairway.
She found great pleasure in traveling, visiting the Canary Islands, Scotland, Russia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Beijing and various locations throughout Europe.Her foreign travels were rivaled by the various places she and Wally have called home in North America. They resided in Three Rivers, Lansing, Ferndale, and Midland, Michigan.For a few years they lived in Guelph, Canada.Jackie and Wally loved living in California.They had homes in Costa Mesa, Fallbrook, and Laguna Woods.She easily made friends wherever she went.
Jackie, a Lutheran, was a longtime member of Riverview Evangelical Free Church in Bonsall, California.She became a devoted participant in bible study while a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland, Michigan and continued her passion for learning about the Lord throughout her life.
A memorial is being planned at Miramar National Cemetery in February 2021.In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made instead to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, at www.lls.org.
