Obituary

Donald Miller, of Chicago, Illinois passed on February 4, 2018 after a long history of illness with rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, heart disease and lung disease. Donald was born on October 10, 1936 to James H Miller and Christine Pierce of Atlanta, Georgia.

Don attended primary grades through high school in Crete, Illinois. He received his degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Upon graduation, he was offered a staff position and became Chief Architect for International Harvester Corporation. He was later recruited and offered the position of Chief Architect by Ray Crock, where he was instrumental in developing protocols and design for the McDonald's Corporation. After sixteen years of service, Don opened his own architectural practice in Newport Beach where he continued to work for the McDonald's corporation with re-design of existing facilities. He also ventured on to designing specialty wireless telephone site applications for sensitively zoned areas such as schools, churches, and public buildings including the Rose Bowl and Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. He later designed sites throughout California and Texas.

Don resided in the home he designed and built in Coto de Caza. He is survived by his wife Marie Miller and her two daughters Mindy Lemoine and Kimberly Solarczyk; their children, Alex, Andrew, Johnny, Ashley and Emily and, his children Jim Miller, Kim Branca, Rod Miller and their children Rachel, Emily, Abigail, Claire, Ana, Christine and Hanah.

Don will be remembered for his positive attitude and ability to overcome illness and carry on with an infectious and gregarious laughter. He had a heart of gold and was a generous and giving man. He will be greatly missed.

A private service and burial will held on February 12, 2018. Don will be laid to rest at Pacific View Memorial Park.
