Doris Marie Dante was born December 11th 1928 and passed away Monday, June 9th 2014 at the age of 85. Doris goes to join her beloved husband James Vincent Dante who passed almost 18 years ago. She is survived by her son James Joseph Dante and her 2 granddaughters Ashley and Mallory.

Doris was the last of three children of Joseph and Oma Menteer. Being the youngest, after her brother Robert and sister Irene, she was never allowed to sit by the window in the car. One story she loved to tell was the one time she didn't have to sit in the middle seat. She accidentally opened her door while the car was moving and almost fell out of the car. After that it was a long time before she was allowed to sit by the door again. But she always loved to tag along on adventures with her siblings.

Doris met James in 1952. Soon after James told her they would be getting married, a statement that always made her chuckle. They married soon after in February of 1953 and on December 23rd of the same year they welcomed their only son James in the world. He was their pride and joy. And they were so happy with the man he grew up to become and thrilled when he got married and added Stephanie to the family.

Having lived in Downey, Ca since they were married, Doris and Jimmy (as Doris called him) moved north to Crescent City, Ca in 1994 to be close to some of Doris' family. After Jimmy passed away in 1996, Doris spent her time volunteering as a grandma at a local elementary school, helping the children in her classroom with their work and walking the track at lunch, where she was joined by some students who just loved her. In 2005 Doris decided she wanted to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. She moved to Laguna Woods, Ca where she was able to spend more time with her family.

Doris was a wife, mother and homemaker for most of her life. She loved her family more than anything and always looked forward to hearing about all of their adventures. She was a big animal lover and loved hearing the misadventures and trouble the family dogs would get into. It always made her laugh.

On Monday June 9th, 2014 her son James went to see her. She kept telling him she wanted to go home and refused to believe she was home. Soon after she slipped away and was finally reunited with her love. She is home.

A memorial service will be held at McCormick & Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills, Ca on Saturday June 14th 2014 at 1:00pm.
