Obituary

Doris Evelyn Odion, 94 passed away in her sleep in Laguna Niguel, CA on December 22, 2016 from natural causes.


Born February 26, 1922 she grew up in Rutherford, NJ, the only child of Richard and Carol Landshof. She graduated from Rutherford High School and went on to attend the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and Adelphi College. She enjoyed attending ballet school in Rutherford for many years and was accepted at the New York City Ballet in their corps de ballet. WWII intervened and Doris spent the war years working in the banking industry and for the United States government in many classified jobs. At the end of the war she returned to San Francisco and then moved to Southern California where she worked for many companies, including the aerospace industry at Autonetics (North American Rockwell) as an executive secretary.


In 1970 after a move to Laguna Niguel, Doris decided to return to college attending Saddleback College where she received an Associate Degree in music and then attended California State University Fullerton where she received a BA and MA in English. She was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa and proudly wore her key.


Doris is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald and their three children: Ronald, Gale and Nadine. She was predeceased by a stillborn baby boy and Fifi foofoo, her beloved pug.


There will be no funeral services at the request of the deceased, who will be cremated and ashes scattered at sea. A memorial service will be scheduled in the future. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by McCormick and Sons of Laguna Woods.
