Dorothy (Hardy) Natal, 83, of Laguna Beach passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital after a 14 month battle with leukemia. Born on April 23, 1932 to John and Bertha Hardy, she was raised in Boston, Massachusetts and later lived in Ohio, but truly loved Laguna Beach, where she made her home for the last 38 years. She was an avid movie watcher, who enjoyed conversation, was careful about her water-usage, always recycled, and delighted in telling jokes.
She married her dear husband, H. Luis Natal, on August 25, 1964 who she met by happenstance when he laughed at one of her jokes while he was trying to paint a straight line. He survives. Also surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Jose Cedeno, Aliso Viejo CA; three sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Deborah Bigrigg, Corona Del Mar CA, Michael and Debbie Bigrigg, Spencer OH, Marc and Laurel Bigrigg, St. John USVI; four granddaughters, Kristie Eidlhuber, Jennell Bigrigg Romero, Tammy Serrin, Sally Melena; six grandsons, Michael Brandon Bigrigg, Paul Bigrigg, Jonathan Cedeno, Joshua Cedeno, Jordan Cedeno, Dennis Bigrigg; and seven great-grandchildren, Kristian Eidlhuber, Emily Elizabeth Eidlhuber, Lauryn Eidlhuber, Lunden Serrin, Leo James Melena II, Riley Romero, Emily Rae Bigrigg. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur Kingsley. Her ashes were spread off the coast of Laguna Beach in a private ceremony, per her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute in her honor to Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org), which provides surgeries for children suffering from cleft palate issues and is an organization that Dorothy donated whenever she could, or the Susi Q Laguna Beach Senior Center (www.lagunabeachseniors.com), where Dorothy gave much of her time and talent during her later years and was an enthusiastic volunteer for "Monday at The Movies."
Her ashes were spread off the coast of Laguna Beach in a private ceremony, per her wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 1 at 2:30 pm at The Little Church by the Sea at 468 Legion Street in Laguna Beach – All are welcome.
