Dorothy Jean Sheldon Olson, age 84, of Laguna Hills, California died on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Dorothy was born on March 23, 1933 in Porterville, California to Mayme Boone Sheldon and Purle Sheldon. Dorothy has three siblings; "older brother" Richard Sheldon, younger brother Raymond Sheldon and one younger sister Diana Sheldon Walker. Dorothy attended Belleview Elementary School, Bartlett Junior High School, Porterville High and Porterville Jr College. While in school Dorothy enjoyed tennis, cheer, and all the social aspect of school. Dorothy was active in working on the Class reunion committees up until her recent inability to travel.

While attending Porterville Jr College Dorothy met and fell in love with her husband Edward Keith Olson Jr. while he was home on summer break from USC. Together they had two daughters Katherine Lynn and Sharon Ann.

Dorothy was very active in her community. She was past president of the Porterville Woman's Club, PTA President, Campfire Girl leader and she played duplicate bridge. Dorothy also enjoyed golf and competed in tennis tournaments into her early 70's. Dorothy worked many years for the Porterville Recorder; her favorite position being in circulation and working with the newspaper boys. She found them to be a laugh a minute!

Dorothy, better known as Mam'ma, once she had grandchildren, was a talented artist enjoying watercolor, oil and even silk painting scarves. Dorothy didn't find many things she couldn't master when it came to sports and hobbies; even archery.

Dorothy and Ed had many business endeavors over the years together and with partners, River Island Golf Course in Springville, Collectors Choice Art Gallery in Laguna Beach and Laguna Village Arts and Flowers in Laguna Beach, just to name a few. They were members of the Young Republicans and the Porterville Ski Club

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Porterville, California

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Edward Keith Olson Jr 1992, Great granddaughter Keylee Faith 2012, her parents Mayme Boone Sheldon and Purle Sheldon.

Dorothy is survived by daughter, Katherine Gibson and her husband John, daughter Sharon Haron and her husband James, Grandchildren, Hilary Haron, Cameron Gibson, Charles (Chip) Haron, Erika Gibson. Many nieces and nephews and her beloved service dog Kipper II.

Graveside services will on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. 11:30 am at Lindsay-Strathmore Public Cemetery, 639 S. Foothill Ave. Lindsay, Ca 93247
