Dorothy will join her funny and loving husband of 52 years Edward Sanchez and her beloved son Michael Sanchez. Dorothy is survived by many who loved and adored her including her son Edward V. Sanchez, her five grandchildren, Steven Sanchez, Robyn Calvetti, Nicole Sanchez, Kelly Sanchez, and Anthony Sanchez, her three great- grandchildren, Alex Aleman, Owen Calvetti, and Jack Calvetti, and her two step-grandchildren Jennifer Wilcox and Kristen Spadanuta.
Dorothy was born on November 10, 1921 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Warren W. Wiley and Pearl V. Davidson. During her youth Dorothy lived in New York and Florida and then made her way to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she married her husband Edward Sanchez, on October 26, 1940. The couple eventually settled in Los Angeles, California where Dorothy was a mother and homemaker to her children Edward and Michael Sanchez. Dorothy was an active volunteer with the Pied Pipers woman's club and the Girl Scouts of America. She served as a Eucharist minister for her church organizing events and fund raisers to build new churches. One of Dorothy's special moments is when a Bishop came to visit her parish and landed her with a kiss. Retelling the story always made her blush.
Dorothy and her husband Edward were avid golfers and could never resist a night of hot toddy's, popcorn, and western movies. Dorothy had a passion for reading with her favorite novels being Harlequin and Romance. She was even progressive enough to read "Fifty Shades of Grey" given to her by her granddaughter Robyn. Dorothy loved family and parties and was ecstatic to have all of her loved ones celebrating her 90th birthday with her. Dorothy had an incredible wit and was blessed to have all of her faculties close to the end of her life.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 31, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the McCormick and Son Mortuary Chapel. The Chapel is located at 2500 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, California, 92653. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity in memory of Dorothy Sanchez.
