Obituary
Dr. Edgar A. Lucidi, M.D. died on October 4, 2020 at a care facility, in Laguna Hills.He was 88.
He was predeceased by his parents, Renato and Frieda Lucidi, and his son, Michael Lucidi.He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rose Marie; his children, Celeste Lindemann and her husband Ronald, Mark Lucidi, and John Lucidi; his sister Renee Corbally; three grandchildren, Emily, Evan, and Chloe Lindemann.
Edgar was born in Trenton, NJ and graduated from Trenton Catholic Boys' High School in 1949. Having earned a full scholarship, Edgar went on to graduate from Villanova University in 1953, and then, in 1957, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.After graduating, Dr. Lucidi did his internship at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, served as a medical doctor and officer for the U.S. Army in Korea, and moved to Michigan to complete his residency.Moving to La Habra, CA to raise his family, Dr. Lucidi opened his medical practice as an ophthalmologist in La Habra and then subsequently in Brea.Dr. Lucidi wrote numerous articles relating proper nutrition to good eye health.Dr. Lucidi later moved to Corona Del Mar, and upon retirement from his medical practice, worked as consultant for E.B. Professional Services, Inc. in El Monte.There, he provided medical advice to those working in convalescent homes.
A devout Roman Catholic, Dr. Lucidi was a Knight of Malta and donated countless hours of medical services to financially challenged patients in East Los Angeles and Tijuana, Mexico.
An avid reader, Dr. Lucidi gained a great deal of knowledge both in- and outside of the field of medicine.Upon his death, his wife donated his 7000 books to the Newport Beach Public Library.Dr. Lucidi was featured on television at various points in his career and can be found speaking on YouTube videos as well.Edgar was a gardening enthusiast and loved to eat good foods.He was fluent in Italian and Spanish, had conversational knowledge of French and Korean, and was learning Portuguese.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, October 12 at St. Nicholas Church, 24252 El Toro Road, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 11 at McCormick and Son Mortuaries, 25002 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92637. Burial will be held privately for immediate family on Tuesday, October 13.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Church at the address above.
