Linderfelt

Edward Neal Linderfelt
February 7, 1939 – August 9, 2026
Edward Neal “Ed” Linderfelt, 87, of Laguna Woods, California, passed away on August 9, 2026.
Ed was born on February 7, 1939, in San Diego, California, the son of Hal Raymond Linderfelt and Pauline Ann Milhalik.
Ed attended Fairfield College Preparatory School and later studied at the University of Oklahoma before returning to Connecticut, where he earned his engineering degree from Bridgeport Engineering Institute. He spent his professional career with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut. Like his father, Hal, Ed was a gifted engineer with a natural ability to understand how things worked and the ingenuity to fix almost anything.
Ed’s knowledge and engineering expertise were so highly valued that he was called back to work more than once after retiring. When Ed retired for the third and final time, his grandson Jonathon marked the occasion with a trophy that read, “Congratulations on Retiring Again,” a fitting tribute to a career that proved difficult to leave behind.
Ed married his beloved wife, Maureen Glennon, in January 1962. They shared nearly 62 years of marriage until her passing in December 2023. They spent most of their adult lives in Fairfield, Connecticut, where they raised their daughter, Shari, and built a home filled with family, friends, and countless memories.
Ed was a quiet man, but his actions spoke volumes about his loyalty and devotion to the people he loved. He and Maureen were gracious hosts, and their Fairfield home was often the gathering place for family and friends. Whether celebrating holidays, marking special family occasions, or simply enjoying one another’s company, large gatherings at the Linderfelt home became a cherished part of family life.
Ed and Maureen also shared a love of travel and explored destinations around the world together. Some of Ed’s most treasured travels were shared with his daughter Shari, son-in-law Jon, and grandson Jonathon, creating memories together in many places over the years.
In retirement, Ed and Maureen made their home in Laguna Woods, California, where they enjoyed the beautiful Southern California weather and their shared appreciation for theater and the arts.
Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen Glennon Linderfelt; his daughter, Sharyl “Shari” Garrity; his brother, Robert Linderfelt; and his parents, Hal Raymond Linderfelt and Pauline Ann Milhalik.
He is survived by his grandson, Jonathon Garrity of Los Angeles, California; his son-in-law, Jon Garrity of Springfield, Ohio; and his nieces, Megan DeFelice and her husband, Paul, of Cheshire, Connecticut; Mary Tarasuk and her husband, Joseph, of North Haven, Connecticut; and Katharine Glennon of Vero Beach, Florida.
Ed is also remembered by special family friends Lisa and Strick Woods, Collin and Vanessa Woods, and John Boiano Jr., whose friendship was an important part of Ed and Maureen’s lives.
A memorial service celebrating Ed’s life will be held in Fairfield, Connecticut, at a later date. Following the service, Ed will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Maureen. Details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
