In loving memory of Elinor (Ellie) Jerry who passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years young. Ellie met her future husband William (Bill), Jerry at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, NY 75 years ago at the age of 15. They married in 1957 and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in April of this year. Ellie graduated from Syracuse University earning her degree in Education. She went on to teach Headstart, nursery school and 1st and second grade in the Syracuse City School system, retiring in 1989. As a busy working mom of 3, she always made time to be at all of her kids extra curricular events and was their biggest fan. In 1992 Ellie and Bill left Syracuse's snowy winters behind and moved to Southern California where they resided for over 30 years enjoying the warmer weather and making many lasting friendships. Ellie was a lifelong fan of Syracuse University football and basketball, attending the games with Bill when they lived in Syracuse. Ellie loved playing mahjong with her girlfriends, especially her best friend Phyllis. She was an avid word puzzler. Ellie also enjoyed traveling with Bill through his family owned travel agency and they had many adventures together over the years. Ellie was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Muriel and Jack, her in-laws Getrude and Max, her sister Leatrice and her brother-in-law Norman. She is survived by her husband, William Jerry, her children, Marjorie (David), Brian, Neal (Dawn)and 6 grandchildren Reina, Casey, Breanna, Jordan and Cole and one great grandchild, Marina. Her family is profoundly grateful to her Hospice Care nurse, Angelica and to her Caregivers, Camille, Annie, Chris and Audell, who treated her with compassion, kindness and love. The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
