Obituary

Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 17 1930. She had one sister, Francis who was two years older than her and who died in October 2013, from cancer. Her sister and her parents are buried in Ascension Cemetery, where Elizabeth will be laid to rest on Monday, February 12, 2024.

As a young girl, she loved playing handball. She frequently played handball after school and was usually in trouble with her mother, for getting home late and playing handball instead of coming home and doing her homework.

At the age of 14, she got a job working in a five and dime store, by using her sister's work permit. Of course, she had to use her sister's name too. Consequently, she gave half or her salary to her sister.

She met her best friend Jackie, at school, when she was a teenager. They became very close and Jackie's parents included Elizabeth in their vacation trips and just about everything they did as a family.

As a young lady she got a job working as a secretary, at the Ted Bates Advertising Agency, on 5th Avenue in New York City. Sometime later, she went to work for City Investing, who owned all of the Legitimate Theater's in New York City. While working there, Elizabeth was able to see many or the Plays.

Elizabeth met her first husband, Jack Kelly, at a party, which he was having at his home. She and Jack were married for 27 years and had two daughters Kim and Karen. Jack died in 1988 from lung cancer.

I met Elizabeth two yeas later in July of 1990. I first saw her, when i went into get a haircut, where she worked as a manicurist. She was a beautiful lady at the age of 59, when I met her.

I got her name and phone number from my hairstylist, Maryann and invited her to have lunch with me. When she walked into that restaurant, I was blown away, by how beautiful and sexy looking she was. I actually thought she was about 39 and fudged a little about my age. I was 54 at the time but told her I was 49. We hit it off in every way right from the start.

After lunch, I invited her to drive down the California coast with me. She had an appointment with a client and had to go back to work, but called me when her client cancelled. So, we spent the rest of the day driving down the coast and stopping in several places with views of the Pacific Ocean, just talking and getting to know each other. We found that we both liked many of the same things, like playing golf, traveling and a big Christmas with lots of presents. We ended the day by going to a nice restaurant in Newport Beach, for dinner. Then, we drove back to my place where she had left her car. She left then. So, all in all we spent over 8 hours together on that first date, just talking and getting to know each other.

I called he the next day and asked her to go out to dinner and dancing at a nice Ritz Carlton restaurant in Dana Pont. When she got out of the car at the restaurant, a nice young man took her hand to help her out and he said, mam you look gorgeous. Then, while waiting for a table, we sat at the bar and the bartender said you two make a beautiful couple.

After dating for a few months, we bought a house together in Dana Point and got married. We were married for 34 years, until she passed away last week. We had a beautiful relationship and always enjoyed doing everything together. And, we were always nice to each other. I miss her so much and I expect I always will. She was my best friend and my soulmate!
