Obituary

Emilie Thomas, born Emilie Paskova, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 18th, 2016, at her home in Laguna Woods Village, Laguna Hills, California. Emilie was born in Czechoslovac Republic on November 22, 1922. Her parents were Polish immigrants and she was the eldest of five children (Rudy, Emil, Maria and Terese). She met the Love of her life during WW11, where he was unfortunately killed in a skirmish with the Nazis, but not before she was blessed with a child in his remembrance named Detlev Michael Pasko (Richard Thomas). After the war, she moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where she met and married an American soldier named Joseph Francis Hanson on May 13, 1950 at the Providence Church Heidelberg. Shortly thereafter, Emilie and her son sailed off into the sunset from Europe to a new life, a new country, with a new husband entering the USA, past the Statue of Liberty, into New York. Once in America, they traveled across the U.S. and eventually settled in a small newly constructed residential community in Southern California, called Lakewood. For whatever reason there may have been, they divorced in June 1953 and she continued her career as a waitress. Where by chance, she met her next True Love, William Lloyd Thomas and they were married in Clark County, Nevada on May 8, 1957. Emilie became the beloved wife and best friend of her love of 35 years. William preceded her in death on may 25, 1992 in Santa Cruz, California. Emilie is today the matriarch of both the Thomas relatives and her European Paskova relatives. While married to William, Emilie began a successful new career as an interior designer until her move to Laguna Woods in 1995, where she happily redesigned the entire interior of her new home. When completed, Emilie retired from interior design and truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, snacking, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep, sincere and positive way. Emilie is survived by her son Richard Michael Thomas. Family and friends whose lives were touched by Emilie are invited to a celebration of life service to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
