IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ernestina
Villagrana-Martinez
February 1, 1961 – May 3, 2023
My wife Tina- Ernestina Villagrana-Martinez, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2023, at Providence Mission Hospital Mission Viejo, Ca at 7:30pm. She was born on February 1, 1961 in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico, to Jose F. and Antonia Villagrana.
She was a proud resident of Ladera Ranch, Ca. Tina and I were married on February 8, 2003 at the Serra Chapel, Mission San Juan Capistrano. She once mentioned to me that when on a field trip from her grade school she visited The Serra Chapel and said " When I get married, I want to get married here." Her wish was granted to her by the Late Monsignor Paul Martin. I first met Tina when she was 17 years old when she was shopping for her brothers at a swap meet I used to sell at in El Monte ,Ca. Later she worked for me for two weekends then could no longer work for me because of the job she landed at Vons. She worked only one job for 43 years for the Vons/Pavilions a Safeway company as trainer, scan coordinator and checker. Always displaying the very best in friendly customer service.
Tina was a very astute shopper and loved buying only the best of the best. She always looked for the best items to purchase from handbags, jewelry and clothing. They had to be name brands only, she would not settle for anything less and she deserved it.
Our vacation travels took us on different cruises on the Queen Mary / Cunard ships to England, Paris, Spain, Malta, Turkey, Egypt ,Germany and Italy. She enjoyed the cruises so much and was hoping to take another one when she got well. Her favorite was Paris where she went on shopping sprees to her favorite stores. Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and others. She once said to me " When we retire someday we should come and live here and watch the Eiffel Tower light up every night. "
Tina always had the ability to make anyone smile. She is survived by her husband, Jerry ,parents Mr and Mrs Jose F. and Antonia Villagrana ,sisters Ana, Lucy, Grace, Silvia and brothers Ace ,Gilbert, Ricky. Nieces Alexis,
Jaclyn, Kendall, Sarah, Valentina, Abigail. Nephews Diego, Jadon.
I would like to recognize my sister-in-law Ana Villagrana Holding for her tremendous love and support for Tina and myself during these last 15 months during this ordeal and for her continued support during these last few days in helping me get so many things organized for me from cremation, church, retirement proceedings. She has been my Angel. Thank you Ana.
Family, friends we invite you to join us at the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano 31520 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675 at 12 noon on June 3rd to honor and celebrate Tina's Life.
Tina Villagrana-Martinez
Daughter, sister, Auntie, friend & beloved wife to her husband, Jerry.
Aside from my father, she was the most hardworking person I've ever known.
To my father, they are "Almas Gemelas," soulmates.
She loved her husband, our parents, her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and her friends. She loved us all deeply.
When her nieces & nephews were growing up, her face would light up when bragging about their accomplishments in a similar way when she'd score a great deal on shoes or clothes.
As we all know, my sister had an adoration for fashion. Always a classy lady. From shoes, clothes, designer handbags, jewelry and traveling with Jerry and at times our parents. Living an abundant life and living it to the fullest and loving it. But her love of family surpassed it all.
With regards to her character, she was hardworking ,loving, caring, giving and extremely generous to the people she loved the most. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing my sister also knew how loyal and devoted she was to close family and friends and our Catholic faith.
She loved her work, she loved her friends, she loved her customers and a great sale on shoes. Her love had no limits. She protected me from the moment she new I existed. She helped raise us all. She too was a mother in her own right because of all of her siblings. You see there was 9 of us. But she took on the role with no hesitations. My mother and father knew they could count on her and she never wavered. Her love and generosity had no limits for the people she loved the most.
I was blessed to have shared her last 15 months on this planet. What a gift. The ultimate strength and courage she portrayed all these months. There are no words to describe it. Till the end her will and strength to continue fighting this disease never wavered. Her last words to me were "No matter what happens Ana, I will be ok" The pain and suffering has ended and I know she's in heaven with our Lord and Savior, smiling down on us all.
My sister I love you , we love and miss you till the end of time. I am grateful and honored to have been your sister. May God Bless you now and always. Till we meet again sister.
Love, Mom, Dad, Brothers and sisters and me your baby sister Ana Villagrana Leanos.
6th grade graduation memory. Tina took my mom, my Principal and me to Lawry's Prime Rib Restaurant in Beverly Hills Ca. A taste of elegance and class that was my sister. One of many memories I will treasure always.
We love and miss you Sister.
